COPREM has developed
a new generation of precast products characterized by special lining techniques for the internal surface of the concrete
guaranteeing durability that exceeds all the standards prescribed by current environmental regulations. These are
HDPE-lined Box Culverts,
HDPE-lined Pipes and
HDPE-lined Wells, characterized by the internal protection of the concrete surface by means of a
High Density Polyethylene Liner (HDPE) with T-Grip technology capable of preventing any leakage of the liquid transported as a result of corrosion by the aggressive attacks of the substances conveyed and to counteract any inward infiltration due to the action of contaminants present on the boundary - ensuring a product life of over 100 years.
Compatible with market needs and technological developments,
we want our products to be as compatible as possible with the environment, starting with the
raw materials and design, which plays a fundamental role in controlling and limiting the environmental impact linked precisely to the production, installation and life of the products themselves.
COPREM has planned to control its
production cycle in order to limit the impact on the environment.
Air
In order to contain dust emissions into the atmosphere as much as possible, we have equipped all the conveyed emission points with
special filters, homologated according to the indications of the Lombardy Region, and we systematically carry out surveys and maintenance activities to guarantee their functionality over time.
Waste
A large part of the waste generated in the production cycle is reused, such as the recycled water from the production of concrete and the relative waste that is reprocessed with a sophisticated plant that allows the recovery of a washed and regenerated inert material.
For polyethylene liner waste, an agreement has been made with a qualified company capable of regenerating the product for alternative uses.
Aggregates
The aggregates necessary to make up the cement mix, as well as the cements, additives and additions are procured, compatibly with their specific characteristics, giving priority to
neighboring producers to ensure the least possible pollution by carriers. In addition, specific mix design recipes are studied that provide for
the use of recycled raw materials within the margins allowed by law.
Water
COPREM has adopted a system of
tanks for the accumulation and treatment of the washing water of the production plant and of the concrete mixers, capable of operating the total recovery of the same with the reuse in the production cycle, decreasing in fact the need to drain the artesian well and the public aqueduct.
Thanks to this sensitivity,
COPREM in its evolutionary process of continuous improvement, after having proceeded to the establishment and certification of production control systems for concrete conglomerates (
FPC concrete), for precast concrete box elements
(UNI EN 14844), for tubular concrete elements
(UNI EN 1916), for concrete manhole elements
(UNI EN 1917), has provided for the implementation of an
integrated Quality-Environment-Safety Management System that has recently been certified in the first two sections
(UNI EN ISO 9001 and UNI EN ISO 14001) by
Apave Certification.
We are aware of the changes that the construction sector will necessarily have to face in the near future, such as the development of
LEED - ITACA certification schemes for the discipline of environmental and energy performance of structures. COPREM wants to continue its journey by aiming in the near future at the establishment of an
EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification system for its prefabricated elements.
All COPREM products are 100% recyclable. At the end of their useful life cycle, demolition returns products that can immediately re-enter the production cycles as raw materials. Even in products coated with HDPE liner, polyethylene can be entirely recycled.
