Modular precast elements lined on the joint with High-Density Polyethylene
Most
COPREM concrete products are immune to attack by aggressive elements in the environment. However,
some applications may require additional protection - e.g. when conveyed liquids may develop sulphuric acid within the system. For several years now we have been producing
precast concrete products with an HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) lining system that guarantees absolute absence of cracks and infiltration, and resistance to chemical agents - maintaining the basic characteristics of the concrete pipe intact.
Thanks to many years of experience in the production of vibro-compressed concrete products internally coated with
T-Grip High-Density Polyethylene Liner,
COPREM has been providing designers, institutions and companies with an integrated system of protection and sealing of the pipeline - which can also be divided into
more economical solutions compared to complete coverage, and which can be well adapted to the various project requirements with the various choices offered.
The
special anchors of the T-Grip liner ensure
optimal assembly with the precast element during production. In the case of the
Welded Joint Box Culverts®, the concrete protection is installed on the joint to guarantee the
perfect seal of the pipeline even under pressure. All this without having to completely cover the inside of the structure, which
benefits the costs that can be assimilated to those of a box culvert with butyl gasket.
For this production a strip of T-Grip HDPE Liner is applied to each element during the production phase in the factory and perfectly integrated in the casting, near the male and the female part.
Coprem Service Department will then carry out the welding of the joints after the elements have been assembled on site.
Cross sections
There are many advantages of this new solutions with joint welding:
» |
hydraulic seal even at high pressure |
» |
no root infiltration |
» |
higher protection for the pipeline (HDPE break elongation: more than 600%) |
» |
perfect seal even in case of corner elements |
» |
no variations of the HDPE characteristics for more than 100 years |
According to many experts, the Welding Joint patent is the most interesting solutions for the building sector because it is the definitive solution for sealing the joints in pipelines. Our Technical Department is at your complete disposal for discussing the customers' needs about protection and seal of the pipelines - always aiming to ensure the best cost/performance ratio.
Not all the box culverts are the same
COPREM has always been working to meet the needs of its customers, scrupulously complying with the law and regulations in force. All production complies with the technical standards in force, in particular the prefabricated boxes are CE marked in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 305-11 EU and the relative harmonised reference standard UNI EN 14844:2012 and comply with the requirements of Ministerial Decree 17-01-18 "Technical standards for construction".
We produce the reinforcing bar with double electrowelded mesh and additional shaped reinforcement rods, or with longitudinal distribution bars, a secondary distribution reinforcement able to guarantee, in all phases of prefabrication, the maintenance of the required iron covers and a real distribution of the structural warps.
They are not to be considered similar to the reinforcement elements of alternative devices such as steel chains, cables or wires. Alternative solutions consisting of a flexible reinforcement bar in which distribution warps are not foreseen and where the main warps are simply connected to a chain system are not suitable. These systems do not guarantee at all the respect of the parameters and the possible breaks of these chains in the casting phases could lead to the realisation of portions of products without reinforcement.
From what has been stated above, the role of the potential buyer is considered fundamental, who, also through the work of the Designer and the Works Manager, must carefully evaluate the characteristics declared by the manufacturer so that all legal and regulatory requirements are really complied with. COPREM has always been working to meet the needs of its customers by scrupulously complying with the law and regulations in force.
