Most COPREM concrete products are immune to attack from aggressive elements in the environment. Some applications, however, may require concrete protection, for example when carrying liquids that may develop sulphuric acid within the system.
Thanks to many years of experience in the production of vibrated compressed concrete products covered on the inside with a high-density polyethylene liner (HDPE T-Grip), COPREM has for some time now been supplying designers, organisations, and companies with an integrated system of protection and sealing of the pipeline, which can also be articulated in more economical solutions compared to the complete internal covering, and which can be well adapted, with the various choices offered, to the various project requirements.
The sophisticated internal production process guarantees optimal assembly of the liner with the concrete directly in the casting during production of the culvert, to the advantage of the affordability of the culvert itself and its durability over time, or in the case of the Welded Joint Open Box® even only on the joint, to ensure the perfect seal of the pipeline without necessarily having to fully cover its interior with liner, saving on the costs, which are therefore comparable to those of a culvert with a butyl seal.
In this case, a strip of high density polyethylene liner (HDPE T-Grip) of suitable dimensions is applied to each element during production in the factory and perfectly integrated into the casting, in proximity to the male and female part, thereby allowing COPREM Services' specialised personnel to weld the joint after assembling the elements on site.
The advantages of this new solution with box joint welding are therefore: | |
» | Hydraulic seal even at high pressures; |
» | No roots infiltration |
» | Guaranteed tightness of the pipeline even in case of major settlements thanks to the elasticity of the liner (600% extension property) |
» | Guaranteed tightness of the pipeline even with important angular deviations; |
» | Retention of design features over time (more than 100 years) |
Coprem's Technical Office is at complete disposal of customers to discuss in detail every need for concrete protection and sealing in pipelines, always ennsuring the best cost/performance ratio.
Possibility to modify the thickness according to specific requests and applications, on request we can provide calculation reports.
